1) What Is the Defence Industry Portal?

The Defence Industry Portal (PIP) is an integrated digital platform that serves as a central information management hub for the national defence industry ecosystem.

The platform brings together government agencies, industry players, research institutions and academia to drive strategic collaboration to enhance technological capability and advance the development of Malaysia’s defence industry.

The portal also provides opportunities for all stakeholders to leverage key initiatives such as the Industrial Collaboration Programme (ICP), Research and Development (R&D), innovation and technology.

2) Why Was the Defence Industry Portal Developed?

PIP was developed to bring together parties that previously operated separately into a single platform, with the following objectives:

  • To coordinate collaboration among all parties involved and ensure all efforts align with the requirements and strategic direction of the national defence industry.

  • To facilitate knowledge and technology sharing from OEMs, research institutions and academia to the local defence industry.

  • To support the Industrial Collaboration Programme (ICP) in enhancing local defence technology capability and capacity.

  • To support Research and Development (R&D) that is relevant to defence strategic and operational requirements.

  • To stimulate the growth and development of a more self-reliant and resilient local defence industry.

  • To establish a repository of national defence technologies and expertise.

3) Who Can Register on the Portal as Defence Industry Partners?

Relevant government agencies, industry players (local and international), research institutions and academia.

4) How to Register and Access the PIP Portal?

The registration and access methods for PIP are as follows:

  1. Step 1 - Online registration: Relevant government agencies, industry players (local and international), research institutions and academia that are interested must register online on the PIP site. Access will be granted to users to access the PIP platform.

  2. Step 2 - Verification process: Companies must provide complete information and relevant supporting documents, and applications will be reviewed by BIP and STRIDE.

  3. Step 3 - Submission of ICP and R&D project proposals: Companies, academia and agencies may submit ICP and R&D proposals through the portal.
